Maresme Big Data
LoRaWAN gateway infrastructure providing free communications for winemakers, micro-farmers, and the public across the Maresme region.
About the Project
As the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to revolutionize the agriculture industry, LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) technology has emerged as a game-changer for smart farming.
At strategic locations across the Maresme region, a series of LoRaWAN gateway antennas are being installed to provide free communications infrastructure for winemakers, micro-farmers, and the public.
LoRa technology enables transmission of important data, such as soil pH and moisture, from compatible, inexpensive smart sensors that have a battery life of up to 10 years and can reach where there is no internet or where Wi-Fi is not practical or affordable.
The LoRaWAN gateways receive sensor data and retransmit it to the ThingsNetwork™, which can then feed data to your apps, dashboards and analytical systems.
How It Works
Deploy Sensors
Install low-cost LoRaWAN sensors in your fields, vineyards, or orchards
Data Transmission
Sensors transmit data to our LoRaWAN gateways — no WiFi needed
Cloud Processing
Data is forwarded to ThingsNetwork™ and your preferred platform
Insights
Access your data via dashboards, apps, and analytics tools
Benefits
Free to Use
No subscription fees for using the LoRaWAN network infrastructure
Long Battery Life
LoRa sensors can operate for up to 10 years on a single battery
Long Range
Works where WiFi doesn't reach — perfect for rural locations
Secure
LoRaWAN uses end-to-end encryption for your data
